Justin Shear recently joined Homewood Corporation as Vice President, Sales, and will be focusing on sales and marketing for the Corporation’s brands: Homewood Homes, Trinity Homes, and Ambassador Homes.
Before joining Homewood, Justin worked with Fischer Homes, and most recently served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Coppertree Homes for the past eight years. He says it was what Homewood stands for that really attracted him to join the company. “There are not other building companies in Columbus whose owners are doing the type of good in the community that George (Skestos, Owner of Homewood Corp.) is doing.”
He is particularly proud of Gigi’s, a nonprofit organization founded by George and Tina Skestos in 2018, dedicated to improving the lives of shelter dogs. With the goal of helping all adoptable shelter dogs in the United States find a happy home, Gigi’s connects the expertise of national leaders in dog sheltering and adoption to lead a collaborative resource network that includes a 15,000-square-foot dog campus in Central Ohio. At the time of Gigi’s opening, George noted, “We may not change the world, but we can change the world these dogs are living in forever.”
Justin also cites George and Tina for the support of The Ohio State University, which reaches from athletics to the Wexner Center for the Arts to the College of Veterinary Medicine to the Ross Heart Hospital, among the good that the Skestos’ and Homewood Corporation are doing in the community.
Justin says that it is important to him that Homewood is a local company, and that all of their brands build throughout Columbus. And he appreciates that while it is a large company, it really has a small company feel to it. “I’m amazed at how many of our employees have been with the company for 20+ years,” he says. “When you come here you feel like you are part of a family.”
As he looks towards 2020, Justin says his goal is to continue to foster the positive culture that he has felt at Homewood since he joined the company. He also is looking forward to continuing to do the good work being done with Gigi’s, and to engage in a more creative and compelling marketing campaign for the Homewood brands.
He also is excited about all of the new products that the Homewood brands are bringing to market in the new year. There are new single family homes in Holton Run in Grove City, as well as the 55+ community at Woodside at Holton Run, a new model in Heather Ridge in Powell, single family homes and condos in Avondale in Dublin, and single-family homes in Howard Farms in the Olentangy Schools District in Delaware County. Most exciting is a new section being developed in Turnberry Farms in Pickerington, in which new homes are starting at $199,000, and selling incredibly fast.
As for the housing marketing as a whole in Columbus, Justin believes the region is set up for another strong year. While typically election years are not indicative of a strong market, all signs point to another positive year, considering that the Federal Reserve is looking to keep interest rates down, wages are increasing, and unemployment levels are decreasing. Market conditions and all the new product that we are putting out there all add up to a good year ahead for Homewood Corporation.
