Holiday Season in Columbus

‘Tis the season to participate in the good tidings of the holidays as Central Ohio is filled with events to experience the magic, young or old. From the Columbus Zoo Wildlights to the Chinese Lantern Festival, here are some of our favorite seasonal activities to enjoy with your family.

Franklin Park Conservatory

Did you know that the Franklin Park Conservatory hosts Conservatory Aglow every year? This holiday event showcases exquisitely holiday themed rooms. Gingerbread house-making and visits with Santa will get your family in the holiday spirit and, on special Saturdays and Sundays in December, kids can make their own Christmas presents. In addition, during the month of December, the conservatory stays open after-hours (with the exception of the 24th and 25th) to highlight the festive decorations in an evening setting.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Wildlights

If you haven’t been to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Wildlights, you haven’t fully experienced the holiday season in Central Ohio. Experience an evening spectacular filled with three million Christmas lights, as the zoo illuminates everything that doesn’t actually move using energy-saving LED lights. Also, don’t miss out on seeing real reindeer, a diving Santa Claus at the Discovery Reef area of the aquarium, and light shows that will delight everyone in your family.

Ohio History Center

There’s just something about the Victorian era that is reminiscent of holiday traditions. Each winter season, Ohio Village turns into an eighteenth century town filled with shows and activities geared toward families and kids of all ages. Events include Christmas Carol Puppets in the School House and a visit with jolly old St. Nick in the Church. Be sure to dress warmly—many of the Ohio History Center events are outdoors.

Easton Town Center

There is something spectacular about going to Easton Town Center at Christmas-time—and it isn’t just Christmas shopping! From a life-sized nativity to a giant Christmas tree, the spirit of the Holiday Season in Columbus is felt on every corner of the shopping center. There are also carriage rides and live music performances to enhance the holiday shopping experience.

Ohio Chinese Lantern Festival

Celebrate Chinese culture with an exquisite display of 39 illuminated exhibits crafted by Chinese artisans, traditional performances, and amazing food! Be prepared to be entertained, inspired and enlightened.

The spirit of the holidays is upon us. Celebrate and feel the magic with your loved ones as you enjoy family-friendly events this Holiday Season in Columbus.
