Nic Vouis, son of Vice President Mark Vouis, is a car enthusiast who has been remodeling homes since age 19. We recently caught up with Nic to learn more about his background and why he loves working with Trinity Homes.
Q: Where are you from originally? Where did you go to school? Why did you move to Columbus (if not from here)?
I was raised in Columbus, Ohio. I graduated from the original Olentangy High School in 2013, giving me recent insight into the district. I am currently attending The Ohio State University.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself… hobbies, favorite things, family, etc.
Being able to work with a significant portion of my family and people I’ve known my entire life is a pleasure every day. As far as hobbies, I really enjoy real estate, remodeling and architecture. At 19 I remodeled my first home—redoing everything from plumbing, to flooring and paint.
In addition, I have a passion for cars, which I believe I got from…basically every member of my family.
Q: What do you like doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to go to dinner with friends, remodel projects, work on cars and going out on the water with friends and family.
Q: Tell us about your job at Trinity Homes.
At Trinity, I help my clients figure out almost every aspect of their new home. Finding the perfect lot and dream floor plan—even if that means designing a completely custom floor plan. I’m also available to my clients before, during and after the construction process, to answer any questions they may have or help them with anything else they should need.
Q: What do you like best about working at Trinity?
My favorite part about working at Trinity Homes is helping clients find and design the perfect home for themselves and their family, in some of the best communities in Central Ohio
Q: What is one of the biggest perks of building with Trinity?
I would say the biggest perks of building with Trinity are working with sales consultants that have been in this industry and company for years. In addition, our ability to customize homes to cater to our clients’ needs as well as our structural warranty—which is the longest of any builder at 35 years transferrable—are great perks of building your new home with us.
We also offer a great setup when building offsite with us. Our clients do not have to get a construction loan, we carry the building cost until the end and, as the client, you get a normal mortgage when your home is finished.
Q: What are three things everyone should know about Trinity?
Q: In your opinion, what about Central Ohio do you see as the hottest selling point?
Columbus is a big city with a small town feel. It’s home to a diverse demographic and offers a wide variety of entertainment and dining options, but it is still easy to get across town within 30 minutes or less.
Q: Have you noticed any market trends among Millennials?
The biggest trend among younger clients is that many will wait until they find the perfect combination of everything before they will select a home and build. This causes people to rent and effectively “throw away” money for a longer period of time.
What I have seen happen time and time again is that the location millennial buyer wants gets sold to someone else, and the amount that they have saved was outpaced by increasing home values and costs. Effectively, that money is worth 1.5 to 2.5x less than what they originally saved.
