Trinity Homes specializes in building custom homes for Central Ohio families, but our team also has a soft spot for dogs in need of new, loving homes.
So we couldn’t be more excited to introduce Gigi’s, a first-of-its-kind non-profit organization designed to improve the lives of shelter dogs and puppies by leading a collaborative resource network within the dog sheltering community, which includes a state-of-the-art 15,000-square-foot campus in Columbus.
Gigi’s has been created in partnership with the Columbus Humane to address common challenges shelters and the animals in their care face. Namely, many shelters have too many homeless dogs, not enough resources to care for them and too few local adopters to give them a home. As a result, dogs can often become sick during the time they spend there. Healthier animals are more likely to quickly be adopted to their forever homes.
Fueled by the best of intentions, these shelters are ill-equipped, overpopulated and under-funded—and the dogs suffer as a result. Meanwhile, just a few miles away, dog adoption agencies like Columbus Humane have a high public demand for adoptable dogs.
Trinity Homes’ founder George Skestos devised a solution to address this foundational challenge, putting his passion into action to help more dogs find loving homes. Working with some of the foremost leaders in animal welfare and sheltering, he pioneered a way to help connect under-resourced shelters with the support they need to provide the best care possible, while increasing efficiencies within the dog sheltering network to help more dogs find their permanent home.
Gigi’s leads this collaborative resource network between existing shelters and adoption centers with a first-class, state-of-the-art, 15,000-square-foot facility equipped to house approximately 40 adult dogs and puppies.
The facility boasts four large kennel wards with abundant natural light—engineered to reduce stress and promote health and wellness—as well as a veterinary clinic complete with all of the staff, supplies, and equipment needed to keep dogs healthy. In addition, Gigi’s has a behavioral evaluation room, grooming space, a classroom and even an indoor exercise arena.
