Guest Bedroom Ideas Your Visitors Will Love
You love your home, so it makes sense to want to show it off to your family and friends who visit during the holidays or any time throughout the year. And what better way to ensure a memorable stay for your guests than to create the perfect oasis for them to enjoy.
Decorating Your Guest Bedroom
The best guest rooms are uncluttered, comfortable, and feel a little like home. A trick often missed when designing a guest room is to make it feel as comfortable as the other rooms in the house. Whether you want the space to feel bright, soothing, spacious, or cozy, always put comfort first.
So let’s look at the essential elements of a comfortable and welcoming guest bedroom:
- The furniture - Oftentimes, guest bedrooms are among the smaller rooms in the house but that shouldn’t stop it from being a well-functioning and comfortable space. Invest in multifunctional furniture, such as a sofa bed or desk that doubles as a dressing table to allow the space to be easily transformed for overnight or weekend visitors. If space allows, include additional furniture like a nightstand, small desk, or lounge chair so that your guest feels comfortable and is able to more than just sleep in the room.
- The lighting - We know by now that one of the biggest factors that impact the ambience of a room is the lighting, and that includes both the overhead lighting and lamps and natural light, as well. Be sure to include a light to read by on the nightstand and a lamp on or near the desk, if you have one. A night light can be helpful to avoid stumbling around in the dark, and if you really want to impress your guests, include a lighted makeup mirror.
- The bedding - The cozier the better! Adding a bunch of throw pillows instantly creates a cozy and welcoming space. When it comes to decorating your guest room, use your hands as much as your eyes. While aesthetics are important, textiles can make all the difference. Splurge on cozy organic sheets, toss a knit blanket on an armchair and leave a stack of high-quality towels for your guest.
