Our Guide to a Magical Holiday Season

Holiday Season in Columbus

Opportunities abound throughout Central Ohio to participate in the good tidings of the season as holidays are filled with events to experience the magic, young or old. Here are some of our favorite activities to enjoy the Holiday Season in Columbus.

Franklin Park Conservatory

The Franklin Park Conservatory hosts Gardens Aglow. This annual holiday event showcases exquisitely holiday themed rooms. Gingerbread house making and visits with Santa will definitely get your family in the holiday spirit, and on special Saturdays & Sundays in December kids can even make their own Christmas presents for a small fee. During December the conservatory stays open after-hours (with the exception of the 24th and 25th) to highlight the festive decorations in an evening setting and offers hot beverages around a bonfire, as well as live entertainment.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Wildlights

Oh the wonder of one million twinkling lights! Can you even imagine three million? Families can take in this spectacular view in the winter season with Columbus Zoo and Aquarium‘s Wildlights! An evening spectacular filled with three million Christmas lights, the zoo illuminates everything that doesn’t actually move using energy-saving LED lights. Real reindeer, a diving Santa Claus at the Discovery Reef area of the aquarium, and light shows will delight everyone in your family.

Ohio History Center

There is just something about the Victorian era that is reminiscent of holiday traditions. Each season, Ohio Village turns into an eighteenth century town filled with shows, activities, and crafts geared toward families and kids of all ages. Events include Christmas Carol Puppets in the School House and a visit with jolly old St. Nick in the Church. Dickens of a Christmas treats families to holiday traditions in a festive setting. Be sure to dress warmly, as many of the events are outdoors.

Easton Town Center

There is something spectacular about going to Easton at Christmas-time —and it isn’t just Christmas shopping! From a life-sized nativity to a Christmas tree covered in almost 30,000 RGB LED lights, the spirit of the Holiday Season in Columbus is felt on every corner of the shopping center. There are also carriage rides and live music performances to enhance the shopping experience.

Ohio Chinese Lantern Festival
